My Life 15th I like ice cream. There are a few flavors I am not partial to, but overall, I do like ice cream. My personal favorite seems to reflect the manner I choose to live my life, , honest, and simple. I like neopolitan the best. There is the vanilla, far from being bland and flavorless. It has a subtle, discrete taste that does not overwhelm any of the others. It is as if vanilla sits in a corner and says OK, when you have tried the others and tired of their taste, when you simply want honest , try me. And there is the slightly racy and decadent chocolate. What is there not to love about chocolate? It panders to my sweet tooth and seduces my taste buds. And let's not forget the strawberry. Wilde once said that he had little doubt that God could have made a tastier but chose not to. Strawberry ice cream is the good girl in cut off jeans and a halter top that chooses to be a little loud and slightly flashy, but in a polite way. Of course, there ARE times when I like things a little more...exotic. That is when I go for the peach or coffee flavored variations. Myself, I put the entire carton in the microwave and it for about 45 seconds or so. That makes it so much easier to spoon into my bowl. Sometimes, I might it again to get the desired consistency. My love affair with ice cream goes back as far as I can remember. Even as a I loved it. My favorite tune was whatever the ice cream truck was playing. We could hear that truck from light years away. I am sure that it was simply coincidence that the truck moved slow enough to give us time to rummage thru yesterdays clothes and assorted toy boxes, trying to scrap up enough for yet another frozen treat before it finally arrived on our street. As we walked away from the truck with our momentary treasures in hand, there was the sweet anticipation that lasted only as long as it took to rip off the paper and start the of coldness. Many years later, as a semi-affluent , I began having a small (for me!) bowl of ice cream every night. After a long day of doing unarmed combat with the forces of poverty, after a well deserved dinner prepared and served with love, came the ice cream. Over a period of time, it became much more than "just" a frozen delight. It became an affirmation that all was right with the world. I stopped eating ice cream when the love of my life passed away from . Things were no longer right with the world, at least, not for me. But with time, the reason behind eating my ice cream has changed. Now, instead of the affirmation, my ice cream has come to represent hope. Hope that one fine day, I WILL find whatever it is that I have been seeking. Plus, I just like to eat ice cream again!
